Set on the shore of Lough Beagh lies Glenveagh Castle, a granite castle in traditional Irish town-house style, designed by John Townsend Trench and built between 1867 and 1873.

Set in the Glenveagh National Park in County Donegal Glenveagh Castle offers visitors a 45 minute guided castle tour along with a 35 minute audio-visual presentation telling the history and story of the castle. A tea room is located in Glenveagh Castle and is a great place to relax before your start exploring the surrounding Glenveagh National Park.

Situated within the Glenveagh National Park, it offers walkers an endless selection of trails.

Glenveagh Castle gardens

Between the 1950's and 1980's the gardens were developed to create the Gothic Orangery, the Italian Terrace, the Tuscan Garden and an ornamental Jardin Potager. The gardens are signposted and take approximately 1 hour to explore. Two weather stations monitor the climate which is used to calculate the optimum times for planting in the gardens.
